Day 3 of this adventure began around 10 am for most of us. To say the least, we were a bit amped from the prior evening, thus, sleep didn’t happen till pretty late in the night, or early in the morning as it were. The general consensus seems to be that the night was pretty phenomenal. The tubes in our amps weren’t the only things that left the cafe with “warm glow”.

Now I’m finding myself a bit short on words looking forward to the rest of our “DLF”: The Stepping Out Tour. It’s been so rewarding getting to spend so much time with some like-minded, good-humored, musically inclined amigos. The day’s been filled with many conversations, both serious and lighthearted. We’ve swapped music, shared stories, and simply tried to make as much of the time we have together as possible. Our focus has become so centered it’s hard to believe we haven’t been planning this thing for months!

Cd sang a song last night that got all of us “Lend Us…” guys pretty stoked, and personally, I was convicted! Forgive me for not remembering the name of the song, but it needs mentioning regardless. Musically, it was incredible; lyrically, I was left humbled. Basically, the song was an encouragement to not give up on the dreams and hopes and joys you’ve been given in this life. My guilt in this area is deep.

Honestly, it wasn’t until tonight that the gravity of our tour began to sink in. Though even now it still hasn’t fully done so, it’s become apparent to me that this outing really might carry some fairly heavy implications. Consider the following: Three guys get together every 3-8 months, bring there collective instruments (musical and spiritual), spend a rather short time together, connect sonically, spiritually, and personally, lament not doing so more often, then parting ways, ponder weather or not maybe there is more meant for them as a entity or ministry, returning to their respective responsibilities, pining for the next opportunity they have to play together again. Now they’re doing it for a week+!

We call ourselves Lend Us Your Ears for I reason I can’t remember, but it’s got me wondering. Maybe we ought to be the ones doing a little more of the “lending of the ears”, particularly to the One holding the whole thing in the palms of hands scarred for such a privilege as that laid before us: loving Him with ALL that we have, loving others, seeking first His kingdom, singing to Him a new song.
